Reinstalling Office 2003 upgrade

B

Barry L

Hi

My PC came pre-installed with a 60 day trial version of Office 2003 Standard
Edition. It also shipped with an upgrade version of Office 2003 SE. The
instructions at the time were to uninstall the trial version then install the
upgrade. This worked fine.

I was recently forced to replace the hard disk and reinstall XP. I am now
unable to reinstall Office 2003, as I do not have the original trial version
(as it came pre-installed with no bundled software). What should I do? Is
there a way of obtaining another trial version that will be recognised as a
previous version of Office?

Thanks
B

In order to "load" an UPgrade version, you need Qualifying Software.
Perhaps MS Works was on the PC to prove the qualifying conditions? You
may wish to contact the vendor to verify what was shipped with the PC.

A trial version is not a qualifying version for an upgrade.
Under certain circumstances you can convert a trial version to a fully
functioning registered version.

Since you were instructed to uninstall the trial prior to installing the
upgrade it was not a 'convert procedure' as above.
Your system would appear to have had some qualifying application installed
that was recognised by the upgrade, perhaps MS Works?
