Reinstalling Office v X after reinstalling all software

C

Chuck

The hard drive crashed/broke (Mac mini). Got new hard drive. Installed
OS (10.3.7) and applications, etc. from system disk. Went to reinstall
Office v X and I find out it's an UPDATE disk and wants the original
application folder! I must assume that Office for Mac .."TEST"? was
it?... came installed on the Mac, but it doesn't show up after the
re-install. How do I get Office v X back on my computer?
Thanks for any help.

There's some confusion going on here. First of all, your Mac mini comes with
an Office 2004 Test Drive, a demo version of Office 2004 that allows you to
use this software suite for 30 days with some restrictions (printing
disabled, "Test Drive" watermark, etc.): this is NOT related to Office v.X.
You have a upgrade version of Office v.X, which means that you need to have
an earlier version of Office (98 or 2001) in order to be able to use this
upgrade. If you managed to have Office v.X running on your Mac before the
crash, and if you used that same CD, how did you install it in the first
place? Do you still have access to an earlier version of Office? If yes, use
that one (insert the CD when prompted, or drag and drop the older Office
folder onto the hard disk and point the installer to that location), and you
should be able to install v.X.
