I had Microsoft Office Version 4.2.1 in my Mac PowerBook.
Due to an accident all the material on the PowerBook was
destroyed. I loaded the Office from its CD back to my Mac,
but it keeps saying "Microsoft Excel/Word cannot be opened
because 'Microsoft_OLE2--StglsStorageFileFSP' cannot be
found"
What might that mean? Other programs seem to work quite
nicely on the repaired PowerBook.
TIA

You don't mention, but it could mean your repaired
PowerBook has been upgraded from Mac OS 8.x to Mac OS 9.x
Don't know precisely about Word 6, but Excel 5 is not
compatible with OS 9.

So, if this is the case, you'd have to downgrade to Mac OS
8.6, or to downgrade to Excel 4 (which seems to be quite
compatible with OS 9) or to upgrade to Office:2001.

If this is not the case, could you mention which version
of Mac OS you were/are running?

Hi,
It's PowerBook 3400 and MacOS 8.1. Originally Word3.2 and
Excel(early version) were installed in Powerbook from
floppy disks. After I upgraded to Office 4.2.1 from a CD, I
threw away the disks. I have a feeling that now when I try
to reinstall the Office Word and Excel, the machine is
missing something from the old disks. Could that be a
driver or some other code, and can I download that somewhere?
On the CD package it reads: "Version 4.2.1 Special Upgrade
Price. Upgrade. This program searches your system to
confirm your eligibility for this upgrade."
What might it search? A Password? Some code?

Thank you in advance!
