Reinstalling Office

Adrian Garza

I have an Office 2004 upgrade package. When I first installed it, it found
office x and I ended up with two Office folders (one for each version) I am
in the need of reinstalling OS X. I have made a back up of my MS folder
inside the documents folder. Is this the only folder to back up?

After I install OS X do I install Office 2004 upgrade or do I need to
install vX first? I would appreciate detailed instructions as I am not that
computer savvy.

Thanks

The MS User Data folder holds your Entourage data, but see here for some
pointers to other things (especially re Word) that you may consider backing
up.

(hit refresh a few times in Safari, or use a different browser)

Although if you are not that computer savvy, you should probably back up
most everything before reinstalling the OS, no?

On reinstalling, you should be able to go directly to installing Office 2004
and when it asks you to point to a qualifying copy, simply point it toward
the CD instead of an installed copy (I've just realized that I don't know
how this is done without two CD drives, but many people say it can be done,
so at least try it). There is nothing inherently wrong with running Office
X and Office 2004 side by side, though you can also use the Remove Office
tool (installed with Office 2004 in apps/office/additional tools) to remove
Office X after the fact.
