I have win 7 running ... well, crawling... on a new quad core computer (it
really started its slow-down after installing Office 2007). Its so sluggish
that I've decided to do a fresh reinstall.
Drive C is partitioned and the second partition (F) carries all my data. Its
backed up, but I'd like, if possible to format C without interfering with F,
reinstalling Win 7 on C. Is that possible?
I have the original install disk, and I particularly want to start off from
scrathj with a formatted C.
How sluggish is my pc? Well, even with just 3 or 4 worksheets opened and no
other programs running (except AVG), it takes 5 seconds to switch between
worksheets. Saving a 1.7 meg spreadsheet can take over a minute, and just
going fil/properties is taking about 15 seconds for the window and data to
come up. I'm sick of seeing "not esponding" and the white window while a file
is saving or when Ctrl/F6'ing between worksheets. And between you me and the
gatepost I'm also tired of being told some features will be lost when saving
as an Excel 97-2003 file when those features all CAME from Excel 2000.
The only reason I upgraded from Office 2000 was because it just didn't seem
comfortable with Win 7 (blurred type and other issues) (and I guess I was
tempted to "get with it"). As you may be able to tell, this is also a cry
for clues from someone who may have had the same issues and discovered the
cause(s).
My son has had Win 7 on a laptop for over a year with Office 2003 running
and he loves it. Never a moments problem!
