Reinstalllation of Windows, need to know MS Office key

Eddy

About year and half ago I bought a DELL computer with MS Office 2007. Now I
need to reinstall the system. I got the sticker with the key for MS Windows
XP, but since I moved from one place to another, I lost cd cover with the
registration key for the MS Office 2007. How can I find out what is my MS
Office 2007 product key?
I tried using Belarc Advisor but in the report it doesn't list the key for
MS Office 2007.

Are you sure Belarc doesnt list it? usually it does.
Magic Jelly Bean is another key finder.
And if supplied by Dell, they should be able to help

Thank you very much for your help. I used Magic Jelly Bean as suggested and
I got the same information as with Belarc. So now I got confirmation for the
keys in Belarc report.
What confused me was the fact that MS Windows XP key found using Belarc and
Magic Jelly Bean is the same, but it is different from the key on the
sticker. In the end, key shown in Belarc report for MS Office Professional
Hybrid was the one plainly shown in Magic Jelly Bean as MS Office product
key. Never heard of Hybrid version of office.
Again, thank you very much.

The factory loading used the number you found, it will be useless for
your reinstall efforts. Use the one on the sticker.

The Windows XP key on the sticker and that returned by Belarc (and others)
are normally different when run on a mass produced machine like Dells.

What happens is that Microsoft supplies Dell with a pre-activated key that
can only be applied to a master hard drive. That master hard drive is then
cloned (duplicated) for all the machines that Dell builds within the key's
license. They are also required to supply a key for any reinstallation
operating system they supply. The key on the sticker is the reinstallation
key that will be needed if you ever have to reinstall the operating system.

this is very useful to know, thanks for the tip. Is the MS Office key
revealed by Belarc also "false"?

Maybe, we have no way of knowing from the info that you supplied. But IF
it was preinstalled, quite likely, but you should also have a key and
CD's for that.

Yes, it came pre-installed, and I got two MS Office 2007 CDs. However, since
I moved early spring this year I lost CD case (made of thick paper) with the
sticker :-( I still have CDs that I put in a plastic CD case but no paper
case with the sticker :-(
I want to reinstall Windows: I got MS Windows XP sticker with the
registration key on the computer case so it won't be a problem to deal with
that. I was wondering if it was possible to "read" MS Office registration
from registry since I don't want to be left without something I paid for. I
hope you understand.

Contact the vendor to get replacements for the articles you lost.
