As a student of databases, I am trying to establish a relationship between
two tables using the relationship line. I thought that when I dragged the
line into a table, it would highlight the table, and then I could do the same
to the other table. This is not working for me. What am I doing wrong?

Are you using the Connector Tool? Use it to click and drag from one shape
to another. The source and target shapes should display a red rectangle
when they are active.
