Relative & Absolute References

When I enter a cell reference and want to make either the
row, cell or both, absolute references, on my old version
of Excel I hit F4 and it made the reference absolute (put
$ sign in front of cell or row label). On Excel 2002 F4
does nothing even though "Help" says that's what it's
supposed to do. Does anyone know how I can fix that?

The cell reference(s) must be highlighted in the formula bar before F4 will
cycle through the options.

If doing that, maybe your keyboard has an F-Lock feature that needs to be
toggled? Do the the other Function keys work properly?

Thanks. The F lock was the answer.

Thanks for the feedback Don.

That damn F-Lock caught me a few times.

Finally found a registry hack which disabled the F-Lock.

I never had need for that F-Lock feature.
