Relative datasource path

Is it possible to have a relative datasource path
specified in the word merge template. My thinking is that
my third party application can copy the merge template to
their directory, and place the datasource file in that
directory, and then open that datasource file. This would
secure data from other users, and still provide the
ability to view the data in a nice useable format.

Your setup program (or whatever it is) could automate Word by issuing an
OpenDataSource that connects to the correct datasource - in the situation
you describe you can construct the full path name of the file
programmatically. You will need to ensure that the mail merge main document
is disconnected from the data source before delivering it.
