Relative Hyperlink in Word 2003

D

Dorothy Lo

I am using Office 2003 and winXP.

Purpose:
In Word, I would like to send a message with hyperlink that link to a
sharing drive(L:) in local server. This drive used to map to another oversea
server(also called L:). So I do below steps.

Procedure:
In a Word document, I added \\L:\ in File -> Properties -> Hyperlink base.
Then I insert a hyperlink by selecting a file in above mentioned drive or
typing the file path.
Then click File -> Send to -> Mail recipients. This would send a html
message to the recipient.

The hyperlink works well when I am using office 2002. The hyperlink links to
their respective L drive for both local and oversea users. After upgrade to
Office 2003, the hyperlink could not work for both. In tool tips(when the
mouse approaches the hyperlink), the drive letter is missing.

I would be appreciated for your solution.

Use UNC addressing and not a mapped drive letter.

I believe there is no solution. See this thread:
<http://groups.google.com.au/[email protected]&rnum=1>
or search for this subject: "Wanted: Word Hyperlinks to Mapped Drive,
NOT to UNC".

Let us know if you should find a solution.
