Relative path for hyperlinks from one PPt file to another?

I thought the way to establish a relative path for hyperlinking PowerPoint
files was in File--> Properties --> "Summary" tab and then put a period in
the "Hyperlink base" dialog box. That doesn't seem to be working. Your
suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you.
