relative path of hyperlinks

Hi, I am using publisher 2003 on the intranet and I have several text and
pictures with links. The text hyperlinks to destination folders without any
problems. However, when I hyperlnk images (jpeg) to same path as text
(example: //host1/service/webpage/), the path i typed in changes to
"//././././service/webpage"when i view it on the intranet and link does not
work. when i open publisher again to check, the hard path i typed is changed
to //././././service/webpage. is there a way to fix this?
Thanks.

It sounds like you are just not writing the links correctly. I must admit
that I get confused when I try to use relative links, and thus almost always
use absolute links to keep things straight. Perhaps David Bartosik's
article: "How to Thumbnail in Publisher Web Publications":
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/archive/2006/01/07/80553.aspx
will help you understand what you are doing wrong with the way you are
writing your links. If not post back, and provide us with the URL of your
website, and a specific example of what isn't working, and we'll try
again...

I am copying links from the text box( which works correctly).
I actually am trying to use absolute paths but Publisher turns it into
relative path which I do not want. I want to re-direct to specific folders
and not files.

example of link
Publisher:eek:n text: //host1/service1/welcomefolder/
Intranet: on text: //host1/service1/welcomefolder/

Publisher: on jpg: //host1/service1/welcomefolder/
Intranet: on jpg: //./././service1/welcomefolder/

i have also noticed that when I re-open my publisher,
the jpg turns relative //./././service1/welcomefolder/

Thanks for the help.

The link examples you give below are not written correctly, and your
explanation does not help me, help you. Sorry.

Go back and again read the article I referenced and study the proper way to
write a link. Then perhaps read this article: Including external files in a
Publisher web:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/archive/2006/01/07/80561.aspx
It will give your further examples. You might also go to Help, and type
"hyperlinks", and read at least "create a hyperlink". Then, instead of
copying your hyperlinks, try inserting them.

And once again, post the URL of your site, and a specific example of what is
not working, if you want further assistance.

you cannot link to a folder, only to a file within a folder.

Are you sure about not linking to a folder?

I have one on my home page that links to a folder and displays the
contents of the folder which includes some other folders.
