relative vs absolute hyperlinks; auto thumbnails in temp directory

FP2k, Win XP Home:

I am trying to make my first one web page with a bunch of pictures of
my newborn son; this would include thumbnails that hyperlink to larger
versions of the picture.

I have created a new web. It has one page, the standard index.htm. I
have used the import function to import a bunch of photos from my hard
drive to the images folder in the web.

In the page view, I drag picture from the images folder onto the blank
index.htm page. As expected, it shows the picture full size and
creates an absolute hyperlink. I publish the web and the page
publishes as written -- the hyperlink remains absolute. **How can I
get it to create a relative hyperlink?**

Also, I single-click on the picture and then hit auto-thumbnail icon
on the toolbar -- a thumbnail is created, but it is stored in the temp
directory under Documents&Settings, not within the web. How do I get
it stored within the web? (When I close the web I don't get a prompt
to save embedded files.)

Any ideas would be appreciated?

You need to have FrontPage create a photo gallery, and then link to the photo gallery from your
index page.

OK, thanks for the suggestion, but do you have any hints about how
would I do that? I tried the Help file, but no mention of photo
galleries. I tried this tutorial:
http://www.eleanorstravels.com/PhotoGalleryTutorial/galleries.htm
but it doesn't say how to insert a web component. I tried Insert
Menu, Compnent option, but Photo Gallery wasn't listed. Am I missing
an Add-In?

Make sure the images are in a folder in your web.
Create a new blank page.
Then Insert > Web component > Photo Gallery.
