I have Exchange server 2003 running atop Windows Server 2003. Road warriors
running outlook express 6.0 can relay mail, but not those using Outlook
2003 - isn't that very strange? Why is it that Outlook 2003, a much
advanced email client, is unable to relay, while a simple minded system such
as OE6 can relay without the slightest problem?
One thing I do note that's different on OE6 is that it asks the user to
authenticate when sending email with a dialog that requests for username,
password and domain. Outlook 2003 does not have the domain part. So, in my
infinite wisdom, I tried entering the username in the Outgoing server dialog
as username@domain to no avail!
Summary:
- Internal users can send to both internal and external recipients
irrespective of email client in use.
- External users can send to both internal and external recipients only when
using OE6.
- External users can send only to internal users when using Outlook 2003.
- All users can send vi the OWA portal.
These are the only clients we use in our organization.
Please, please, can someone come to my rescue!!!
