Reloading an existing OFFICE 2004

Having some trouble with Word 2004, I decided to reload it from my CD
but failed to remove the previous version (my goof). In the reloading
process, a lot up updating was brought in from the internet. Now when
I try to open Word, I'm told tnat this is an upgrade and that I must
click on the old application. Well, the old one isn't there and now I
can't open anything. What do I do now?

I have a similar problem, in that I owned the previous version and my
HD crashed this past week. Apple Care took care of the problem pronto,
but when i went to reinstall Office 2004, it told me 'no dice. You have
an upgrade etc.'
I have a previous serial number but the software itself has been
tossed.
Now what?

Hi Mike,

Well, you need the CD or a previously installed application to use an
upgrade copy. Three possibilities:

Try navigating to it on an old computer.

See if you can borrow a CD from a friend.

Call MS and see if you can get a new CD:
