Remaining work for Inactive resources

In Project Server 2003 I have a plan which, each time it is opened, gives a
warning about an inactive resource with outstanding work. When I investigate
this resource through the Resource Allocation view in MS Project all the
tasks for that resource are complete and the actual work column matches the
work column on each individual task. The anomaly here is that the total
Actual Work does not match Total Work and the list of tasks in this view
shows several blank lines against this resource, with no description and no
hours.

Can anyone help?

I believe you need to set the Remaining Work to 0 hours for every task to
which this resource is assigned. You can do this in the Resource Usage
view. Once done, click Collaborate - Publish - All Information. Let us
know if this helps.

Hi Dale,

Thanks for your suggestion. The Remaining Work for every task to which this
resource is assigned is already set to 0. The tasks themselves are not
published in this plan, it we have only published the plan in this particular
instance. Does this make a difference?

After you set the Remaining Work to 0 hours, did you click Collaborate -
Publish - Republish Assignments?

I did collaborate - publish - project plan. The assignments on this
particular project have not been published ever.
