Remember transparency sheets/overhead projectors?

I'm trying to decide the best way to format a PP presentation. My concept
comes from the old age of transparency sheets and overheads. I want to start
with one image and then layer several new images on top of that image
throughout the slideshow. (Think expanding circles with text in each one.) In
an ideal world, text explaining the visual would also come on to the screen
in some sort of animation on various slides. Thoughts, recommendations?
Thanks.

You can either use multiple slides as Steve suggests or put every thing on to
a slide select (ctrl click) the bits you want to appear on the first click
and in custom animation set a fade entrance. Repeat for second and subsequent
clicks.
