remembering addresses

I suspect the answer is that there is no answer.

A nice feature of Outlook is that you don't have to create a contact
for someone you email frequently to quickly pull up their address. All
you have to do is type out the first few letters and Outlook pulls up
the most likely candidate(s) from its memory.

In fact, this is such a handy tool that a majority of my users have
stopped using contacts altogether.

Problem is we have migrated to Zimbra and the new profile means we
start back at the beginning in building that history of quick-retrieve
email addresses.

So now there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth and I am far from
popular.

Is there any way of pulling that history over from the previous
Outlook Profile/PST?

Which is a dangerous way of doing it because (AFAIK) there is a relatively
small limit to the size of the autocomplete file whereas the Contacts folder
within Outlook can be enormous...

General corruption is a bigger risk since the file hold 2000 addresses...

Thanks for the info - I didn't realise it held as many as that...

As spelt out by others, this data is stored in an .nk2 file - which you
can copy across to new PC's, profiles, etc.

It is a really bad idea to let your users rely on this as their primary
contact list - as, one day, it'll corrupt, for someone - and then
they'll loose the lot.

Educate your users to get 'em into Contacts.
