Reminder alerts window should not steal my typing focus

I love Outlook. But I hate the way the "Reminder alerts" window pops up and
steals focus of my typing! So often, it has caused me grief, since, e.g.,
I'm typing like mad in some Word document ... alarm alerts window pops up ...
steals focus ... just as I hit a "bad" key ... like ENTER, which dismisses
the item!

Why not emulate the behaviour of the VERY sensible "new mail" alert window,
which pops up inconspicuously, and doesn't bother me, but does give me the
OPTION of dealing with it, before it just fades back into the ether ... HOW
great is that?! Terrific user interface design ... NOT like the "Reminder
alerts" window:-(
