Reminder for flagged emails

When I flag an email and then choose to ADD REMINDER, I give the reminder a
due date and time, yet I never actually RECEIVE a reminder (if I remember
correctly it used to pop up on the screen along with the task/appointment
reminders...right? What am I doing wrong?
