Reminder setting in a Series ... can't

I've encountered this before. Let's say there's a Fair to be held next year
on March 1,2,and 3.

I enter in the event for March 1 and use the Reccurence feature for March 2
and 3. So far, so good.

Now, I want to be reminded of this event one week before. I click on Open
The Series, edit the Reminder setting for a one week before and when I go to
Save I receive the following -

The reminder for an occurrence of ''March Fair' cannot be set to appear
before the previous occurence. Shorten the reminder time or lengthen the
recurrence period.

If I click on Open This Occurence, the Reminder feature is grayed out.

My only solution was to create yet another event, a one day even along side
the 'fair' and set the reminder to that.

What don't I understand? Thanks.

Bill, that works, thanks. I didn't think of that.

The disadvantage of that though, the name of the event is now named in the
middle of those grouped days. It would be very easy to overlook, say, an
event of seven days with the name of that event displayed in the middle.

Is there no way to have a Reminder in a daily Series such as I initially
wrote?

Please don't take this as a criticism directed to you, but I've been using
Outlook for about ten years or so and upgraded to Office 2007 this year.
This really seems like something that could have ironed out years ago ....
and the problem still exists.
