reminders for appointments created in the past

In MS Outlook 2000 appointments created for a time in the past would not
trigger a reminder. This is useful for creating a record of what actucally
happened that day.

In MS Outlook 2003 appointments created for a time in the past immediately
cause a reminder to pop up. ... What a nuisance.
How can I keep reminders for future events and disable a reminder popping up
whenever I create an appointment for a time inthe past.

Remove the reminder from the item.

Milly,

thanks but not only would that be an extra step but I enter the "history
appointment" directly on the calendar by highlighting the appropriate times
and entering the few words so there is no opportunity to deselect the
reminder. As soon as I leave the new appointment, the reminder pops up. At
lease Outlook 2000 was smart enough to know that one does not need a reminder
now for something just now created for a past time.

Yes, but Outlook 2002/2003 is smart enough to remind you that you forgot
your boss's birthday yesterday.
