reminders for recurrent calendar events

M

Michelle

I have a recurring (monthly) calendar event set. It's supposed to
remind me 12 hours before the event-it's a once a month event.
However, I've noticed that frequently (on this and other monthly
events) that it often has a reminder pop-up 3-4 WEEKS early. I
"snooze" it a week, which is the longest snooze period, and it will
often remind me again earlier than the week later.

Does anyone else have problems with reminders on these types of events?
I typically never have a problem with the reminders on one time only
events-even the weekly ones are USUALLY pretty good, but this monthly
one is a pain-it's reminders are not following the rules that
I've set for it.

I'm running Office 2004 for the Mac.

I have the very same OS and the very same problems, Michelle, and hav
so far been unsuccessful in finding a fix. Mine is also a problem wit
weekly and bi-weekly reminders, which my job requires. It's ver
frustrating. Has anyone out there devised a fix? Thank you very much

question, my problem is worsening -- not only do I have biweekly Offic
Notification reminders popping up a week early, I now have end-of-mont
reminders popping up three weeks early and then not popping up agai
despite using the snooze function. Weekly reminders sometimes don't po
up at all; daily reminders are not a problem. I've looked for answers o
other boards and the main Apple forums and am finding others asking th
same question, also with no response, so I know it's not just me havin

Have you tried rebuildig the database?

Office vX:
Hold down the option key when starting Entourage and take the first option
('typical rebuild'). If this doesn¹t resolve the problems, then try an
ŒAdvanced Rebuild¹.

Office 2004:
You still call the rebuilder by holding down Option key at launch, but it
now brings up a separate app "Database Utility" (which could be launched by
double-clicking of you wish) that lives in the Office subfolder.

First of all, if you have any Office apps open, a dialog comes up that
offers to quit them.

Then you get a window with a list of your identities to select from, and
four options:

1) It has a new feature "Verify database integrity" option: this should
reduce unnecessary rebuilding. Apparently it's quite sensitive. And see 4)
below.

2) "Compact the database". (Like X's "Typical rebuild").

3) Rebuild the database. (Like X's "Advanced Rebuild")

4) "Set database preferences". Actually there's only one pref: you can turn
on "Verify database in background "which means "run automatically" and let
you know if your database needs rebuilding.
