Reminders from a Public Folder, without Outlook running.

I have a company calander set up in an Exchange 5.5 Public Folder, with
users viewing and creating events from Outlook. I need reminders to be
automatically sent to recipients, without relying on Outlook being loaded. I
had a look at some Outlook add-in's on slipstick.com and other places, but
they all appear to require that Outlook be running to work. My ideal
solution would be a server side app that would run on the Exchange server,
and monitor the Public Calander Folder, without requiring Outlook, to be
installed on the same server, or at least without requiring Outlook to be
running on the server.

Does anyone know of such an app or other solution?

There might be one listed at http://www.slipstick.com/addins/notify.htm . If
not, you'd want to write an Exchange event script to run on a timer and
periodically check for items that need reminders sent for them.
