Reminders in BCM Contacts don't work at all

OL2003 with BCM V2
Flag a contact in the normal OL2003 with a date / time / message script
and it appears in the reminders popup list

Do the same with any contact in BCM and it never appears in the
reminders popup list

Is this a failing?
Am I doing something wrong?
Or is it... uuuhm "by design" ?

Outlook 2003 does not expose reminders to add-ins, so add-ins, like
BCM, can't use them.
