Remote user cannot connect to BCM dB

Using Outlook 2007 w/bcm - user is connected to the company Exchange server
no problems, I then ask him to connect to the dB at the office (on SQL2008
sp1).
It errors out with a wrong username/password and it looks like the username
passed is the one on his pc not the account he logged into vpn and our
network with.
Summary: Outlook is working fine with the exchange server via vpn, BCM
cannot connect to the dB as it's trying to use the login name on the pc
instead of the domain name used by VPN and Exchange.
Any solutions out there?
