Removal of "FTP Locations" from "Look In" drop down...

Q

Quiddity

I have been searching the web and Microsofts
Knowledgebase for any information on how to completely
remove the "FTP Locations" and correpsonding "Add/Modify
FTP Locations" options from the FILE->OPEN->"Look In"
drop down list. Various other sites stated disabling FTP
works well, but I do not want to simply disale FTP, I
want to remove the option completely. I found
Knoweldgebase Article 816491 which explains that this is
possible, however I need to download a special Post XP
SP2 patch, but the link doesn't take me anywhere to
download the patch except here. Could someone please
forward me a copy of the patch so I can finally have this
issue resolved?

Many Thanks!

Hi Quiddity,

As mentioned in the article,
http://support.microsoft.com/?fr=1&kbid=816491
to obtain a MS Office hotfix phone MS support.
They are generally rolled into the next Service Pack
for the Office version mentioned.

Yeah, it's easy to say that when your not the one who has
to pay the $35.00 a second to Microsoft phone support.
Especially just to have them send an 80kb file that
should be posted on their site for free anyway.

Thanks for nuttin', honey...

Hi Quiddity,

There is no charge for a hotfix that solves a known
problem, if that's the only topic discussed. Hotfixes
are rarely posted to the website as they aren't yet tested
to the same level as a service pack update.
