Removal of ninstall files

M

MG.

Hello to all. On two of my PC's I have upgraded from Office XP on one and
Works Suite 2003 on the other to Office Small Business 2003. I was
wondering when I can get rid of the temp files that are remaining from the
install. I recall a prompt at the outset of the install to save them for
troubleshooting, but it's been a while (I upgraded a few days after
release) and no problems.
I know they don't take up much room, but I am compulsive about keeping my
machines tidy.
Thanks in advance to all and best regards,
Morey G.

Have you tried running a disk-clean?

Martin,
I know how to get rid of them, I was wondering why MS said to keep them and
for how long they should remaion on the PC.
Thanks,
Morey

Keeping the install files on your disk will save you from being prompted for
the original installation disk when you go to install patches from
http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate.

If you want to remove the files, you certainly can do so.

Thanks Eric.
It's worth the extra space not to have to scramble for the CD whenever a
patch comes up! I just applied a recent patch day before yesterday and Lord
knows, I'd still be looking for the CD.
Best regards,
Morey
