Remove 1 from stock with every barcode scan?

hello, how can I make this happend?

In a modal popup window users reads a product code with a barcode scanner and every time they do this the particular product's stock is reduced by 1 in the database. Anyone could give me advice how to start?

Any help would be highly appreciated.
