Remove "Critical" from tasks

Shelly Seward

I am setting up a very simple gantt chart. I have not used the resource
allocation function, using the software primarily to graphically represent
project progress. In my project I have a couple of tasks that are
independant, but when i view them in tracking view they become "Critical" and
red. These tasks are not critical. How can I amend them to track as just
tasks (blue)? Thanks

You can specify how the so-called "critical path" tasks are displayed in
the Gantt Chart Wizard. Menu: Format/Gant Chart Wizard ... just follow
the prompts. You can thus hide the critical path.

This is what I want to do. We have 40 staff and I want to be able to schedule
their projects, track change, resource time extract reports. I haven't really
delved into the program yet, but initially dont know how to work the
resources function. Can you advise any links / videos online to help me get
an initial understanding?

Hi Shelly,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

If you want to get up and running quickly with Project, trial and error
won't help a lot as Project is not very instinctive and needs a lot of
understanding. I would thoroughly recommend at least a 2-day introductory
course to give you the basics. Meanwhile you might like to have a look at
