remove document recovery listing

I keep getting a listing of available files to recover whenever opening Word
(2003 SP2).

When I try to remove them from the list of 'available files' I keep
getting the message:

'cannot read from the source file or disk'

and the listing is NOT removed.

Further, it states the location could not be found while trying to delete
the file listing from doc recovery.

I can't find anywhere to remove these from the feature - let alone see what
file location they are supposed to be. Any suggestions?
