remove format of "TOC Heading" w/o removing ALL formatting?

Is it possible to remove the format/style of "TOC Heading" on a particular
section of my document without having to remove ALL formatting and having to
reformat that particular section of text again?
I was in the middle of a document when I added section breaks. Yes, smart
move, I know. It then inserted TOC Headers and blew up my Table of Contents.
Just trying to save a multitude of keystrokes.

Not clear what you want to do -- certainly you can just apply a
different style to whichever paragraph you want to change.
