Hi,

Word info says apple-option-minus key will remove items from the work menu.

It doesn't.

What should I do?

One approach--Go into Tools | Customize Menus. Click on Commands, then
All Commands, then tab to the Command List. Type t o o quickly to jump
you to the Tools section of the alphabetical commands list and find
ToolsCustomizeRemoveMenuShortcut. Drag it to the Work menu and drop it
there.

Now, you've got the remove command always at hand and can forget all
about the keyboard shortcut, which sometimes is interfered with by an
Apple Zoom command, and sometimes doesn't work for other reasons, all of
which you probably will have forgotten by the time you need it again,
forcing you to re-investigate why it doesn't work in six months.

But I'm sure someone else will also post the standard interference
fixes, which I don't remember at present. One of them has to do with
whether you are using the hyphen or the minus key on the number pad, and
another has to do with whether System Preferences | Universal Access has
Zoom turned on, in which case the system hijacks cmd-opt-minus.

Hi Rafael:

It's a little unintuitive :)

You have to hit command + option + - (the - on the top row of the keyboard,
not the number pad...) and THEN you have to open the Work menu.

The heavy black minus sign won't appear until a menu is open. Be careful:
once the minus appears, it will delete the NEXT menu item you touch, in ANY
menu!! :)

Cheers

....and the pointer *doesn't* continue to look like the bold minus once a
menu is opened with it - it reverts to a black arrow.

Hi John,

That didn't work. I used to be able to get the black minus sign, and I'm
sure I used apple-option-minus key. I seem to recall that the black minus
sign could appear right away wherever the cursor was. Let me try what some
of the others have said. I know that what you suggest used to work.

Yes. I do remember that.

I printed your former reply and I'm about to read what you say.

Do you use *astrerisks* for italics? I need a glossary of plain text marks.
I thought plain text /italics/ were done with forward slash.

Wish everyone used HTML. |:>)!!

The asterisk indicates bold. The /slash/ or _underscore_ for italic - but
don't take my convention as being anything of an authoritative source:)
