Remove HTML script

I'm annoyed by incoming mail with coloured or weirdly formatted text,
etc. I found a nifty script that removes HTML but it also requires
"DecodeQP osax" installed to get rid of odd characters. I don't know
what "DecodeQP osax" is, where to get it, or how to install it.

I found the script here:
http://scriptbuilders.net/files/removehtmle2.1.html

Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It says on the page that you only need DecodeQP to have the script
decode quoted printable codes. And the wording suggests that if you
don't have DecodeQP, the script will work fine without it.

In fact, I just tested it, and the script does appear to work fine
without that script addition. Enjoy!

Yes, the script works really well except that occasionally there are
odd characters in the result. Mostly, it seems, what looks like an "O"
with two dots over it. I haven't used the script enough yet to see
other characters. An em dash, an apostrophe, and an elipsis have been
converted to this character. I'm hoping that if I can figure out how to
find and install "DecodeQP osax" it'll fix the problem.

By the way, I'm running OS X Version 10.4.10.

Have you ever just tried clicking on the HTML icon in the toolbar and turn
off HTML for the message?

I think you mean click the "Edit" toolbar icon.

For me, when i receive an HTML message, I can click the "Edit" toolbar
icon and Entourage displays a message asking "Are you sure you want to
turn off HTML formatting?". If I click Yes, the message appears as
plain text.
