remove macro alert and extra tab

C

cayce

When I start a new file from a .dotx template or open it directly, I get this
warning:
"the macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro
security settings". I do not need or want any macro functionality in the .dotx

After clicking on OK to the warning box about 20 times, it finally
disappears and will periodically reappear later. How can it make it not
appear in the first place? When I try to view code, there isn't anything
there.

I also have an additional, unnamed tab on the navigation ribbon with some
Avery related settings. How can I get rid of the appearing tab?

Any easy way to make these things go away?

Thanks in advance your any help here.

The mention of Avery indicates that you probably have the Avery label
wizard, which installs a macro-containing template in Word's startup folder.
You need to remove that template, which is responsible for both problems.

The folder to look in is

%appdata%\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP
