remove obsolete files from the web server

FrontPage is leaving some (many) obsolete pages on the web server. My
understanding is the FrontPage downloads the filename and attributes of each
page on the server, then compares these to the local web file and then
prompts me to delete the mis-matches. In some cases this is not happening. My
host providor has not been able to help. I can see the obsolete files on the
host by using an application like WebDrive, and of course delete them
manually. One of the reasons I like FrontPage is for its housekeeping.
Apparently, it is forgetting to dust in all of the corners!

My site is quite large so it is a very difficult job to compare every page
and find the obsolete ones manually.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can also see the obsolete files on the server by opening the server based web in FrontPage, *If*
the server has FrontPage extensions installed.

If it has extensions, open the remote web and recalculate hyperlinks.
Close the remote and open the local web and recalculate hyperlinks
The publish the web by selecting "Publish all" and FrontPage "should" prompt to delete the obsolete
files on the server.
