While trying to install Office Security Update KB917152 on one of our four
machines we find we apparently have one machine with "regular" Office
installed. The only disks we have are for the Small Business version. (No
idea how we got this version installed, may have been done by an outsider
doing maintenance.) This we assume is why the update will not install on
this one machine. We could, we assume, remove Office and install the SB
version however in the past this has been fairly disastrous: losing
templates, user settings, defaults and the like. There are several
questions:
1. Have we really identified the problem?. After asking for Office 2000
Sr-1 Disk 2 and inserting the SB Disk 2 the system sits forever with no
activity.
2. Why have we been able to update this machine for years with no prior
problem?
3. Can we confirm which version of Office is installed?
4. How can we install Small Business in the least disruptive manner?
Many thanks,
