Remove Persistent Watermark

I have a long Word 2002 document that I inserted "DRAFT" as a
semi-transparent watermark. I then added and rearranged some sections. I
then tried to remove the watermark but Word doesn't think that there is one
in the document. I even tried to "cover up the old one" with a new white
one. Word just displaced the the old one on the page so that both of them
appear and I could still only remove the more recent watermark. I checked
and the watermark old watermark isn't placed in the header or footer.

Anyone know how to remove the "ghost" watermark?

View | Header and Footer. Select the watermark and press Delete.

Aren't you a lifesaver! Depending upon the page/section, the watermark was
in the header on one section and in the footer of another.
