Hi,

I want to remove the product key for Office Mac Student Teacher
Edition 2004 from a nonfunctioning computer, so that I may put it onto
a new computer. Can anyone tello me how to do this. I can not turn
the old computer on.

Thanks

Hi Danny -

If you can't start the computer there isn't much you can do. Do you plan on
having it repaired or are you just going to discard it, give it away, what?

Technically there's no need to remove the key, itself - if you could start
the unit you could just use the Remove Office utility. However, there's no
need to do so if that unit isn't going to be used. Just install Office on
the new Mac using the same key or one of the other 2.

All you need be concerned with is the HD in the old unit where Office is
installed... But as indicated above it depends on how you dispose of it as
to what might be required. Bottom line is that you physically can't run
multiple keyed-alike copies on the same network at the same time. OTOH,
*legally* you can't have the same key used on more than 2 systems *and* if
you 'transfer" the one copy to someone else you need to surrender *all*
keys, installation disks & documentation to the new 'owner' and are no
longer entitled to use it yourself.
