Remove Security from database

Mark

I added user defined security using the option under tools and security. Now
that I know what it does, I know it will not work for me. I created a backup
before doing the security update, and even that copy requires a password.
Can I remove the security I added?

You are probably "joined" to the workgroup file that you created ... you
need to locate and rejoin the system.mdw file. First, do a filesearch to
find out where the file is located, then open the WorkGroup administrator
(you didn't say what version of Access you have, but in later version you
open Access and click Tools - Security - Workgroup Administrator) and follow
the prompts to rejoin system.mdw. This should stop Access from prompting you
for username/passwords.

You are probably not following a written list of explicit instructions.
For example, did you start by creating a new workgroup file for your
secured database? If not, you've missed a key first step in the
process.

Tell us what you want to achieve. Then we can tell you whether you can
achieve that with Access security, and how to approach it.
