remove split screen?

I am using a project that someone developed some custom combination views for. However, when I switch from one of the custom combination views back to my standard Gantt view, there is still a split in the screen and I have to manually go to Window->Remove Split to get the Gantt view back to normal. Is there a setting or something that will make the application switch back from a split screen when you access a view that does not require a split screen (i.e. a non-combination view)? We are using Project 2000
Thanks!

If you are in a combination view (split screen arrangement), press and hold
the SHIFT key before you select the other view. Doing so will automatically
close the lower viewing pane and apply the new view. Hope this helps.
