remove stationary

Sometimes, a person uses stationary and sends me an email.
When I reply to this email, the selected stationary causes
my text color to be white (which just so happens to match
the background), and my signature ends up double-spaced
rather than the normal single-spaced. Is there a way to
remove the person's stationary when I reply?

I have tried changing the format of the email from Rich
Text or HTML (or whatever it is set to) to be Plain Text.
I would rather not have to go to that extreme though,
because sometimes I like to have bolded or underlined text.

Depending on the message format, you can use Format->Background->none to
remove the stationery.
