Remove the line through a deleted message through IMAP

Is there a way I can *remove* the gray line (and *X* mark) through a deleted
email message in Outlook XXXX and Outlook Express X.

Instead I jwould just let the deleted messages be in gray color
(greyed-out). Your help is highly appreciated.

Have you tried modifying the current view's Automatic Formatting settings?
