remove the select all shortcut

College students always complain about how they lost their entire document at
the push of one button: the combination of Ctrl + A. The select all feature
is neccessary at times, but the shortcut is not.

Hi A.P.,

Select all is common in a number of apps. I probably
use it 20 times a day. Ctrl+Z (undo) after Ctrl+A
usually works. Just one more thing to 'learn' as
part of life's education I suppose. :)

Hi A.P.,

Yes, I use Ctrl+A in Word to select all to then remove
direct formattng of documents then to apply a style or
to apply a font, etc.

It's a Windows app standard for a shortcut for 'Select All'
and not one, because of keyboard configuration that you
hit accidentally/randomly too easily :)

Of course sometimes it gets used for odd purposes

In Word you have the option to remove that shortcut
from being active if you prefer not to use it.
Tools=>Options=>Customize=>[Keyboard]
Select the Edit category then the EditSelectAll
command to bring up the shortcut list. click on
Ctrl+A then click the [Remove] button.
