Remove the status bar or the text completely when loading a page

Hi there,

I am building a webpage, with a secure page that only
a few people with usernames can acces.
Once they enter their password and log on to that page,

in the status bar, it says
"Busy opening page http://......and so on"

It shows the complete link to the page I am hiding !!
Is there any way that you can disable the status bar in someones explorer
via placing a code in your html ?

This is not a mouse-over thing, I want it to be gone completely.
(Or to put in a different false address).
I am using the bravenet password guard for the secure page.

Any help is welcome !

Why??

If the page requires a password to open, why do you care if the people that
have the password can see the address of the page?

I was going to say that.

To the O.P., if you're concerned the password protected page can be browsed
to *without* logging on for some reason...then perhaps you need to consider
another solution for password protection as the Bravenet script wouldn't be
doing its job if the page could be browsed to directly, bypassing the log on
screen.

The URL is going to be visible in the URL field at the top of the browser
anyway, so why worry about the status bar saying "Loading....[whatever]" ?

However if you are concerned, try using the Spawn addin from
www.jimcosoftware.com - it creates a popup window, a size according to your
preference, and you can turn off things like status bar, the URL field,
menus and so on.

If it is password protected the right way, it doesn't matter that they
can see the url, they will be prompted for a password anyway.
in some browsers you might be able to change what the status bar says
but what do that help you as they can simply bookmark the page and see
the URL in the address bar.

by directly entering that URL, so that you won't have to login,
in other words: the website is no longer hidden then if
the link is passed on to other people.
It is a fansite, with a section that only a few select members should open.
There is only one who needs to give the link to someone else who is not
authorised to view the site's content

1) You could use frames, or:
2) Find a true login program. If someone has a URL, and can bypass the
login, it's not much of a security feature, is it?

If that's the case, then the password protection is not set up properly.
