remove watermark

I can't remove a watermark from every page of my Word 02 doc.

I've turned off "different first page" in Page Setup/Layout/Headers &
Footers and applied it to my whole doc; also tried to turn off the watermark
from inside the the header/footer in the sections where the watermark does
appear -- no luck. As I scroll thru the doc, the 1st page where the
watermark appears is on a page w/ a graphic (1st page of sec 5), then it
disappears again, then reappears in a later section (1st page of sec 8) on a
page of just text. There are also pages between these w/ graphics inserted
but no watermark.

View the page that has the watermark. Display the Drawing toolbar. Click on
the Select Objects tools (big white arrow at the left end), then click on
the watermark to select it. Press Delete.

If this doesn't work, View | Header and Footer, select the watermark, and
press Delete.
