Removing 2007 trial version

I bought a laptop with the trial version pre-installed. I have 2003 and
tried installing it but get an "Office Application version does not match"
each time I start either application (2003 or 2007). Also, Outlook 2003
won't open period. I get an error sayin "Cannot start MS Office Outlook.
MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or the wrong version. This could have been caused by
installing other messaging software. Please reinstall Outlook."

Will removing "2007 Microsoft Office Version" in Control Panel fix these
issues? Or do I need to take additional steps?
