If a task is on a project plan that will no longer be done (or you know that
no hours will be charged against the task), what is the correct way to remove
those tasks from the project plan?

Please advise.

If a task is on a project plan that will no longer be done (or you know that
no hours will be charged against the task), what is the correct way to remove
those tasks from the project plan?

Please advise.

A couple of ways to do this.

Simple way is to reduce the Remaining Work on the task to zero hours,
add a note to the task saying it is not required and republish.

Slightly more complex method is to remove the resource assignment,
republish, then delete the task and save and republish, after insuring
that your schedule logic is still valid.

Of course, if any hours have been charged against the task, you should
not delete it.

Hope this helped,

In Project 2007 you could also take advantage of the "Publish" column and
set it to "No" for tasks you no longer want to appear in resources
timesheets or PWA in general.
