Removing all traces of American English

I suspect it can't be done but, and with no disrespect to all Americans
posting here, but I want to complely obliterate all traces of American from
my system. Yes, it's petty, yes it's trivial, but it's driving me mad! I'm
running 2003 Pro under XP Pro.

Why am I so frustrated?! Well, today I opened up an old document in Word,
intending to make changes and safe as a current copy. I noticed that not
only had the language defaulted to US English, but the page size was set to
letter! I had made no changes before saving originally (why would I?) and my
printer has always been set to A4.

I have checked every language setting on the system and everywhere is set to
English (UK). Is there any way of eliminating all US English?

I have it set as default, and it's fine if I start a new document but, open
an old and it's appears to be defaulting to American English and page sizes.

Most frustrating!

Thanks

Cer:

1.) Documents can have specific languages set when they are created. If the
document comes from a US point of reference, its probably formatted and set
for US English and letter size paper etc.

2.) Word for instance tries to automatically detect the language of a
document. (Based on Windows regional settings and other factors,) but you
can also force it to not do this an permanently set a default langauage by
going to Tools -> Language settings in Word.
