Removing and archiving old contacts.

I am using Outlook 2003. I teach college classes and I want to remove class
members contact information from my contacts list. I have them assigned to
"categories" and hope there is a way to use the categories to identify the
former students by category, remove them from the active contacts list and
archive them so I can recall them. Sometimes I am asked by students for job
references and the information in the Contacts record would be a great help.

Over the past six years the many students in my contaxts list has swelled
the list to quite a large listing. Anyone with clues how this can be done
readily will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Only you can decide what you need. State why archiving or Categories do not
fit your needs. What else is it you need that you cannot do with those
options?

I would create a new contacts folder and call it former students. Then use
the by category view on the contacts folder and drag the old students to the
'former students' folder.
